SSB Constable Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility requirements (nationality, age, education, and physical standards) as of the closing date of the application.
Nationality
- For most posts (Washerman, Barber, etc.): Must be a citizen of India.
- For Driver, Veterinary, Carpenter, Nursing Orderly: Indian citizens are eligible. Subjects of Nepal/Bhutan may also be considered with Central Government permission.
Age Limit (as of the last date of application)

SSB Constable Selection Process 2026
The selection process is multi-stage and qualifying in one stage does not guarantee progression to the next.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
- Male Candidates: 4.8 km race in 24 minutes.
- Female Candidates: 2.4 km race in 18 minutes.
- Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET.
- Physical Standard Test (PST): Measurement of height and chest (for males) as per regional/category standards.
- Written Examination: An objective-type test covering General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Reasoning, and Trade-related subjects.
